Step 1.Determine what kind of fraud occurred

Numerous agencies specialize in investigating various types of fraud.

If your situation aligns with any of these, it's advisable to contact the relevant agency rather than the Kissimmee Police Department.

• Online hacking, social platform scams, or online marketplace fraud: report to the FBI.
• Public assistance fraud, including the misuse of benefits such as food stamps or Medicare: report to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
• Unemployment benefits-related fraud: report to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
• Identity theft related to an SBA COVID-19 economic disaster loan: report it to the US Small Business Administration.
• Mail theft, mail fraud, unauthorized mail forwarding, or address changes: report to the USPS Postal Inspector.
• Tax fraud: report to the IRS
• Driver license or vehicle title fraud: report to FLHSMV.

Remember, if you contact one of these agencies, you don't need to file a police report with the Kissimmee Police Department.

Step 2.Check your eligibility

If the crime you experienced doesn't match the scenarios outlined above, you can file a report with the Kissimmee Police Department under the following circumstances:

• You reside within the City of Kissimmee limits, and the incident occurred online or via phone.
• The fraud or theft took place within the City of Kissimmee limits.

Please note: although your address may say Kissimmee, you might be in unincorporated Osceola County, where the Osceola County Sheriff's Office handles police services. Make sure you're in Kissimmee city limits before you continue.
